eVent jacket sizing?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice on the sizing of the various eVent jackets around at the moment. I have a superfly XT (in large) that fits over my XL neutrino endurance down jacket, but I want something a lot smaller than for non winter use! mostly backpacking through sping/summer/autumn (basically anytime i'd take a photon hoodie instead of down)

Tried on the Rab Latok alpine jacket in medium on sunday and found the cut to be pretty much spot on, with the exception of the back not having enough of a drop tail. I don't need 15 pockets on the thing (though not opposed to it if it's still pretty lightweight like the Rab super dru), and a little conscious of being kitted out nearly all in Rab (but again, if it fits and does the job, don't care).

Can anyone offer any advice regarding the cut of any similar jackets that might fit the bill? The Rab bergen is supposed to have a longer drop tail, but is it cut similar to the latok alpine or is it cut baggier?

and what about the various eVent jackets montane have out at the mo? or crux i suppose. or even integral designs.

Cheers in Advance!

When using something like the Hoody I put it on over my other layers at stops and so forth; but that is me, I would die with it underneath an Event jacket.....

I use a North Face Diad for summer (and pretty much anytime downpours are not forecast). It is OK, only 252g. These are quite close cut so virtually any thing fits over them - have you considered a Montane Prism or maybe a Patagonia R1 Hoody or similar - two options I am currently looking at?

i already have a photon hoddie and a patagonia micro puff for when it's just a bit nippy, but i can't put either of them on over my XT. (i tend to use the micropuff just for warmth when i stop when it's not raining. top of mount fuji at end of september being a good example)

I found the RAB Drillium and Montane Quickfire very similar in cut - long armed, long back, 'athletic cut' the shop assistant said, whatever that means.

iirc the Montane Superfly is a squarer cut, but its been a while ...

Lighthiker has an Integral Designs eVent jacket; sorry never seen one, though my ID PLQ Primaloft smock is a little short in the body and arm for me - so perhaps their eVent jacket is too. But I'm guessing.

Cheers Judy
