Tchibo Compass Problems?

Someone on here last year I think reported some problems with their outdoors compasses bought from the Tchibo catalogue/online company. I think it was one of our lady forum members who said that the problem was reported to Tchibo, who then kindly either replaced or refunded for the compasses with the fault with them. I have searched high and low for this report in the forum here at OM since, to no avail! As I have a few of these Tchibo compasses bought similarly just last year too, but sitting pretty much unused in company stores, I should like to check them out for this fault; as they are still boxed and remain as new today! I have not yet had the occasion to try them out, so wondered if that person that kindly recounted their sad tale before, could possibly clue me in to the exact nature of the fault experienced, and reported to the supplying company please? Many thanks!! nb It is the box sighting compass in grey plastic I think had the fault...and I seem to recall it was one of the regular lady contributors on here that posted about this...Catherine or Judy maybe...in a reply post someplace?

If it's Judy Armstrong of the Via Alpina Challenge, I know she occasionally posts on Tchibo gear on the Ramblers Forum, if that's any help.

Thanks very much there peewit! Hopefully I can get some more background on this problem soon, before checking the compases out, and approaching Tchibo itself for further help and advice if needs be!

Hi Trevor

My ears were burning! The Tchibo box compass looked interesting, as they enable you to sight along the compass to get a more accurate bearing - handy when doing stile-to-stile stuff in Herts.

The one I bought wouldnt settle - just swung around vaguely, so they gave me my money back.

Hope this helps, cheers Judy

Thanks very much there Judy! I can now get onto asking Tchibo about this problem now I am more in the know, as it were! I do really hope though, that none at all of these same type of compasses I too bought, as spares for an outdoors group to use, are so affected by this sad blight! Cheers again indeed for taking the time to get back to me on this issue, as it is very much appreciated by this outdoorsman!
