Fenix torches are good, very good. Many of them even have an S.O.S. setting so it will flash S.O.S. for you. The downside is that they eat up the batteries, usually CR123As, which makes them a little expensive. Batteries tend to last less than 2 hours although this is a generalisation. I like the fact that they have different power levels, even if you do have to cycle through the settings to get the one you want.

I have a MYO XP that I am exremely happy with.  Out of curiosity, however, I have recently purchase AlpKit's new Gamma headtorch and have found that it performs nearly as well as the MYO but costs only £12.50.

How's the battery life on the Gamma?

As for the e-lite you use, thats mroe for emeergency use, I keep mine in my pack and it is only ever used when I'm caught out, when I do not intend to use a torch. its so light and small I always carry it on the hills. I avoid using it though incase one day when I really need it the battery may be low.. And I think its best kept for emergency use.

I use the Myo XP as my weapon of choice and its a fantastic torch, I'm looking forward to getting the new version too with even more power!

Cheers Smeg, from now on I`m gonna leave the eLite in my 1st aid kit.

Gave my Tactikka XP its first trial the other night. It is really bright, even on its lowest setting it`s brighter than the Tikka plus (we had them side by side). The difference is like night and day

The buttons are easy enough to get to with gloves on and the boost is excellent. The diffuser is very easy to use (if fiddly to change for another colour) and is very effective.
