Hi

Can anyone give me a simple or easiest way to load and store waypoints on my Garmin GPS 60 . I am familiar with marine GPS but this handheld seems very complicated . All I want to do initially is put in some waypoints for a day or few days walks in Scotland. Cheers.

Go to the Map Page and use the Rocker to scroll the map arrow to where you want your waypoint, Press ENTER to confirm and the Waypoint INfo page opens. You can change the Name and other details in this screen. For a full route go to the Main Menu Page and select Routes. Start a new route and simply select the waypoints you want included in the route.

I think its a pain loading them directly into the unit.  As Dave says it can be done but its time consuming if you are doing a lot.  It also assumes that you have loaded some form of map onto the unit so you will probably have a PC to do this.

If you are wanting to load a lot of waypoints  I would seriously consider getting some PC  mapping software  if you have the equipment available. If you have a map on the unit this will be the Garmin mapsource stuff as I dont think you can get any other maps onto it.

I use Memory Map, which can also be used on a handheld pocket pc  to plot waypoints and routes, and it saves no end of time.  Loading the software onto a pocket pc means I can still plot routes etc  when Im not at home.    I think all the other map software has pretty much the same functionality so it comes down to personal preference.

I use Fugawi digital maps to download routes to my 60Csx, it also works with my GPS enabled Pocket PC with added feature that I can also download maps to it.

Routes can also be transfered between the two - if you choose to pay for Google earth you can dowload routes, tracks & waypoints to it also.

I bought Fugawi from Amazon.
