Outdoor Research Meteor Mitts- Warning

I just bought a pair of outdoor research meteor mitts for un upcomming winter mountaineering course.  They looked really nice and my hands were nice and warm when I tested them out today.

However, I have discovered one serious flaw. Each of the fleece liners contains 4 strong magnets desgined to stop the fold down finger flaps blowing around. This makes it impossible to use a compas with the golves on as the needle just points to the magents!!!

I have just cut out all 8 magnets- problem solved!!!

Aye, those buggers have been mentioned before. A couple of OMers had fun with a pair in the Cairngorms.

I emailed the company at the time but they didn't seem fussed about it. The magnets are mentioned on the packaging, right?

Yeh they are listed as a "feature"!!!

Aye Mad Jim, I believe Big John threw away at least one perfectly good compass before discovering the secret feature in those gloves!
