I was actually looking on Google for a barometer and came across this.  Any one know if it - or Virtual Village - are any good?

Er, that link doesn't seem to be a link

It's not remotely digital and probly worth £1.99
I fear you might be right Zubald. Cheap and nasty it seems on sale here on fleabay from Hong Kong for £4.49. (will cost £9 for postage though!)

Zubald, Tony,

"It's not remotely digital and probly worth £1.99"

I was waiting for an answer from DF and if it was, "Yes", I was going to say pretty much the same thing.

Sorry - seem to have cut and pasted the wrong thing.

Try again
Better link?

Its specs are a bit limited so not much use on any of the Munroes but for £14 it might be worth a look see if only for the digital compass. Just a toy really, at a toy price.

Well,

Virtual village are an Ebay shop and they are selling this item for £14.99 plus postage here.

If you look carefully, it states that the item ships from China, so again, cheap and nasty it seems.

Now whether you think that £14 is good value for "cheap and nasty" is another issue!

I might get one for the clock as wrist watches are becoming a mite impractical in my NHS job with continuous patient contact and frequent hand washing now de rigeur.

Yeah, you're right once again Tony. I'll search around for a better option.

Dynddias - apart from the low temperature (-10C) which part of its spec is limited?

And cysgod-du, nearly everything is made in China nowadays and it's not all cheap-and-nasty!  (Not saying that this might not be cheap and nasty - I don't know.)

You can guarantee that it is David. Other than the big name companies who set up in china to take advantage of paying low wages, you will find that most if not all of the electronics eminating from there and ending up on fleabay use sub standard components!

Oops! I misread the max height. Sorry. I should have known but then I am struggling with the tail end of a bout of 'Flu. (definitely not "man flu")
I was going to add David that if you think it's worth the risk then go for it! (and you did ask for opinions!)

Lidl do altimeter watches for buttons (£20-£25 IIRC) now and again.  Styling is not up to the best but one matched my Suunto meter for meter on a recent trip.  May be worth looking out as they must be due some walking gear soon.
