Hi Nigel Thompson,
Sorry for the delay in reply. I've tried to address your questions on the Argon below;
The Argon is extremely durable for it's weight, being constructed from a mixture of high-tenacity Cordura fabrics, so you should find it more than capable of carrying and protecting your gear in the harshest of climates.
With a lighter-weight version of the reflex back system found on the Crescent / Lunar packs, the Argon is an extremely comfortable pack, benefitting from the Osprey custom-moldable Bioform hipbelt and a rage of back lengths available for a true custom fit. I would suggest you try an Argo on in your nearest dealer to see just how comfortable they are.
The sleeping bag compartment at the base of the Argon packs is plenty big enough to swallow a full winter sleeping bag within its compression sack, however please keep in mind that this is quite a subjective question, depenent upon how compressed the bag is etc.
A sleepingmat can be attached to the base of the Argon pack in the mat straps, however a mat could also be carried in the side or front compression straps if so desired.
The Daylite pack attached to the front of the Argo series. Toggles on the four corners of the Daylite backpanel fit through laser-cut slots in the Argon's front compression wings, the compression straps then fitting over the daylite for a secure carry.
I hope the above answers your questions on the Argon series ok. Thanks for your interest in Osprey packs.
Martin
