II tried a pair of Salomon Men's Solaris II Shoes in Blacks this atfernoon and the first thing I did was take them off and check the size label to see if they were really size 10s as they felt much too small. Has any one had any experince with this manufacturer and which sizes match up to english sizes? Also which other manufacturers of shoes seem to vary in the sizing of their boot/shoes? Best wishes, Mark

You'll need to go half a size up

Thanks Chairman Bill, You are very quick with the answers.

at least half a size, I had to go up a whole size, nice and snug from side to side too. It's the elven lasts they use.

They used to be one size too small but they changed that a few years ago. I hav'nt bought any since then so maybe they've gone back to their wierd sizing.. I found the uppers split on mine(various pairs bought cheap over 10yrs) after 6 months light use so I wouldnt recommend them anyway.

i had to go a hole size bigger with my X A.

I used to be half a size up in the XAs, but now I'm my normal size. Why this is, I'm at a loss to explain.

I've got some approach shoes and mid boots on test at the moment and both make great foot tourniquets if I use my normal size.

The last pair I had were ridiculously small. I had to go for a full size larger than usual, which took me right to the top of their size range.

always try salomon shoes on. at times i think someone at the end of the line guesses the size and sticks a label on. i've had half a size and a full size up. i've tried a full size up that were smaller than the half size up!!! and even different pairs in the same size in the same shoe are different sizes.

Yep, I have had problems with Salomon boots being to small. At first I just thought that the tightness was due to a "technical fit", when trying them on in the shops. I have a B2 rated Salomon boot, but I wore them on a recent sunny trip to the lakes after injuring my foot and needed the maximum support. Didn't really notice anything on the accent. But during the first decent they did this.... (look away now if your squeamish)!

now, now rocky. don't blame the tools for bad fit and lacing...... my what big toes you have....

 |
But Parky... they were in the sale... half price... didn't have a size bigger... £60 instead of £120... feel a bit tight, but I'm sure they'll wear in... £60 god damn it... fool to say no... 60 bloody quid!!! Bolox... your right!!!

I've got some approach shoes and mid boots on test at the moment and both make great foot tourniquets if I use my normal size. I found the same with some Altberg boots I tried on on Thursday. Extra wide my arse! Whatever you do, don't buy them online without first trying them on somewhere.
I take a 10.5 normal width, I reckon I'd need an 11.5 XXW in an Altberg.
