Rab Latok in London

I quite fancy a Rab Latok (not Alpine) as my next hardshell, but haven't managed to find any in the London shops at all. Have tried most of the usual, Cotswolds, Ellis Brigham, etc..but to no avail. Any ideas?

Snow and Rock on Mercer St (Covent Garden) have them in stock and Field & Trek on Long Acre had one (it might have been a large) in stock last week reduced to £150.

Snow and Rock will price match with the following rules. In store they will price match other retail outlets eg. a shop you could walk into and buy from, as long as that shop has exactly the same item in stock (size, colour etc...).

If you have found it cheaper through an online retailer they will price match through their web store, but you'll have to contact the web store.

I bought a Rab Super Dru on Saturday from the Mercer St branch. Tower Ridge sell the SD for £163ish v £200 on the tag in S&R but the guy in the shop met me in the middle at £180....

thanks ChiefSilverback,

I will pop over there later if I can. Incidently, I was considering the SuperDru as well. It just sounds a bit lightweight to handle sustained use in our good old British winters, but I haven't actually seen one in the flesh. What do you think? The only RAB I've tried was a Bergen, which was a fantastic fit, but seems cut more for walking than climbing, and I really want something suited to a bit of both.

Originally I'd planned to get a Latok Alpine. I was tempted by a Montane Super Fly as Cotswold has them in their sale for £109, but the cut just wasn't right.

The Latok Alpine was full price at £180 but they had a Lofoten reduced to £109 (from £200) which I bought as I didn't want to miss out on that price, knowing I had a month to properly decide.

It is a very traditional hill walking jacket, with a long body and very high collar and whilst only 550g (ish) it's made from a far 'heavier' material and subsequently feels very bulky.

Having spent some time reading up on the different Rab offerings I went down to Snow and Rock to look at the Super Dru and it's a lovely jacket, especially if like me you tend to wear a soft shell and carry a hard shell for bad weather.

The reviews of the Super Dru are all very good and they've got them in Snow and Rock so you can compare it to the Latok.

Mockneyboy - Did you have any joy with the Latok yesterday?

Hi CSB, managed to pop over to both S&R and F&T. Tried both the Latok and SD. The SD just felt a little too lightweight for my needs, and the Latok maybe a bit too heavy.....typical ! Iwas more inclined to go for the Latok, but funny enough, it just didn't feel right....very long sleeves and I wasn't overly keen on the long tail. And they only had them at full price! I'm now thinking along the lines of the Latok Alpine , (but they didn't have my size) which seems to weigh in somewhere between the two.

So basically, the more I look, the further I seem to get from a decision!
