Right, long story short; I have a ME Vinson softshell jacket. its great, only the seam at the bottom corner of one of the outer chest pockets came apart. futher to this the outer and inner layers that go to make up the jacket started to separate around this bust seam. This is not a hole to the outside or a tear but a separation of the fleecy-liner and the goretex (or what ever it is) outer around the corner of the pocket - enough that a couple of coins would drop out and end up in this small area of separation beyond the pocket.
Ok, no probs I thought, called ME and sent if off for repair...came back 2 months (or more) later! not only did the repair not work but they'd managed to completely separate the two layers below the pocket, and that's basically the entire panel of jacket on one side below the pocket, so in fact it came back worse that it went away as and took a freakin' long time for them to do it too...!! wtf?!!
So, I have two choices; have a go at repairing the thing myself, I can hardly do worse than the quite ineffectual attempt done on it thus far! So, can anyone recommend a glue of sorts thats flexible and can stick two layers of fabric - an area about the size of a CD case - together...?
or choose an entirely new jacket as a replacement...and I've not seen an equivalent type of jacket being made anymore, current softshells aren't waterproof as this one is
