Softshell repair...?
sticking inner/outer layers back together...

Right, long story short; I have a ME Vinson softshell jacket. its great, only the seam at the bottom corner of one of the outer chest pockets came apart. futher to this the outer and inner layers that go to make up the jacket started to separate around this bust seam. This is not a hole to the outside or a tear but a separation of the fleecy-liner and the goretex (or what ever it is) outer around the corner of the pocket - enough that a couple of coins would drop out and end up in this small area of separation beyond the pocket.

Ok, no probs I thought, called ME and sent if off for repair...came back 2 months (or more) later! not only did the repair not work but they'd managed to completely separate the two layers below the pocket, and that's basically the entire panel of jacket on one side below the pocket, so in fact it came back worse that it went away as and took a freakin' long time for them to do it too...!! wtf?!!

So, I have two choices; have a go at repairing the thing myself, I can hardly do worse than the quite ineffectual attempt done on it thus far! So, can anyone recommend a glue of sorts thats flexible and can stick two layers of fabric - an area about the size of a CD case - together...?

or choose an entirely new jacket as a replacement...and I've not seen an equivalent type of jacket being made anymore, current softshells aren't waterproof as this one is

Sound like de-lamination if it is windstopper or equivalent ??? In which case it is knackered, send it back & get it replaced... Any glues you will use will clog the fabric & ruin it's wicking & breathability properties thus ruining it's purpose...

Wot Echidna sez: send it back to ME: they've buggered it up, so it's their problem.  Everyone drops a ball from time to time, so give them a chance to put it right and you've got a fiar chance of ending up happy.  When you send it back, send in a letter that points out politely that the previous repair has made things worse and that the complete delamination seems to be a material fault and you'd like to claim a new one under warranty.

ok. thing is they stopped making that jacket and there's nothing quite like it out there at the mo, apparently there wont be again, which is pants cause the jacket itself is probably the best one I've ever had. well, save the delamination of course....

There's still some about: Cotswold have it in their bargain bin right now at £160, for example.  You might be able to arrnage something with ME, like an alternative product at similar value, and pick up one of the Vinsons on clearance (you could always eBay an alternative to pay for a new Vinson...)

ah, cheers - hadn't seen that, or rather google hadn't come back with that result... might try and get hold of ME and see what they say. they did offer a replacement of pretty much anything they have so thats always a possibility I supose
