Great another Paramo/Altberg devotee, both products ranges are superb. Just sent my batterd Meindl borneo's for re-sole, they do a proper job at Altberg not like some of the repairers I can mention.Have a look at www.whalleyoutdoor.co.uk I get my Paramo stuff here they do a good discount and will price match other Paramo retailers.

Thanks for the tip. I'm after a Explorer top in black to go with my black fuera smock. Wonder if that would give me the same protection as a velez but with more flexibility? I have a velez in black but just musing as one cannot have too much kit!!!

It doesn't give the same protection as the Velez as it doesn't have the pump liner, but saying that,it does offer pretty good shower protection, if you want full waterproofing you'd have to get a Paramo fleece under your Fuera, no, one definitely can't have too much kit.

I have just returned some Meindl Burma boots as they were hurting my ankles. I have now bought some Alt-Berg Fremingtons and they are extremely comfortable and light. They are only a three season boot though. I am very pleased with them after my first couple of walks. I also have Paramo pants and a cascade jacket. Great all of them.

Hi Altberg here - just to say we'll be doing a boot fitting advice session at the Paramo Covent Garden store, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 December 2008 for any Londoners interested. We'll also have our new Trekking boot - the Tethera - launched early 2009 to show and hopefully get feedback on.

Andrew,

That's not good enough! We need more details about the Tethera. For a start, is it lined with some horrible membrane?

In all seriousness, I wish you luck with the new boot.

Altberg are ace. The missus has the hardest feet to fit on the face of this planet, im sure! however, we took the trip to richmond and now she has a pair of boots that fit like a dream. Its one more less nag when were out on the hills.......

I have iused their defender and desert boots, and find them extremely good too!

I am wearing in a pair of Altberg North Fell Micro's as we speak. These were custom made for me. Modest cost (no more expensive than an off the shelf pair of comparable boots). Seem to be well made and the shop staff were most accommodating. Best of all they have no membrane in them. Well worth trying.

Peter - delighted you like the North Fell Micros ! On the Tethera, our new walking boot, it will have a one piece leather tongue/upper, sympatex bootee lining & vibram sole - more supportive than the Fremington, less 'full on' mountain walking than the Mallerstang.  Still working on final pricing but with things as they are probably £145/£150
