Great - all my questions answered (unless I come across another one!)  Thank you all so much for your help - I am a lot more confident now about making the right choice for me.

Cheers

if you are worried about hand luggage size----wear all your clothes and cinch your rucsac down--my 45 litre  goes through like this---i envy your cliff top walks at this time of year---i fished the paternosters from greve de lecq for 7 years----a betot

yes, spring is here and the cliffs are looking wonderful - walked from Saints Bay Hotel along cliffs to Town the other week - early morning and felt like the only person on the island - stunning.

I am very lucky, but it is nice to get a change of scene now and then - was in London last week for 3 days and walked miles - came back with a sore throat from traffic fumes - so appreciate home even more now !!

Thanks for your suggestion - fancy asking a woman to wear all her clothes at once when she goes away- as if !!!

I've just bought a Karrimor Airspace 25 and it's an excellent daysac.  It has an airmesh back, integral raincover, pole holder, large external map pocket, waist & chest belts - in fact it's ideal.  It's also very light, compact & comfortable.

The best news is that whilst it's RRP is £44.99 (and I've see it in shops at that price), you can currently get one via Amazon at just £13.49 + £3.95 P&P!!!!!!  An incredible saving (I had to check and re-check, as I couldn't believe the price).

I may even go on and buy another one!!!!!!!!

Cheers

erm - airspace remains £44.99.  Aztec pack away is £12.50 but very different proposition to the Karrimor.

As ever then, if indeed a thing sounds too good to be true, then it most likely is not true!

My Karrimor Airspace 25L was purchased through Amazon a few weeks ago and was £13.49, with P&P £3.49.  The supplier was Sports Direct.

Amazon no longer have it on their site, but go to the Sports Direct site and it is still on offer at £13.49 + £3.49 P&P.

I have just purchased another one less than 30 minutes ago.

Thanks for flagging up where it was from - at the time of your original post I checked amazon and could find no record of the karrimor at the price you said.  That's a decent reduction in price.

No bother - it might be last year's model, but it's an excellent bag at an even more excellent price.

The site also has a fair few Karrimor walking shoes at amazing reductions - again probably last year's styles, but at my age I'm into quality coupled with value for money rather than keeping up with fashion!

I haven't fully explored the site to see what other brands are on offer.

Another site that does 'end of lines' is M and M Direct (www.mandmdirect.com)- a lot of the stuff is rubbish, but they do have brands such as Berghaus, Karrimor, Helly Hansen, Merrell and suchlike on there, again 'last year's' styles and colours, but there are some excellent bargains to be had in clothing and footwear.  With this site, it's just a case of striking lucky when you go on.

Cheers

Can't believe It !

Thanks for this one Mick - ordered one today and because there is no VAT where I live got it for £11.50 !!!!!!!!!

Don't really see where I can go wrong with this one - the size I want does everything else I want - am really quite chuffed about this - cheers

My pleasure - Perhaps it's time we had a section on Outdoors Magic to let people know where bargains can be found?  There are loads out there and the savings can be huge (as we've just found out!).

I used my bag yesterday, did 10 miles in the Cheviots and I hardly knew it was there.  Using it again today on a family trip to London (from the splendour of the Cheviot Hills to the streets of London in one day - quite a change of scenery!).

Cheers

Mick
