I'm looking to by a Granite Gear Vapour Trail, does anyone have any experience of these US sacks?

I know MoS has one of those and loves it - it was the best fit (lots of sizing options) and most comfortable of many packs that she tried.

She won't be online until Sunday evening but I expect she'll comment with any additional info then.

If you get one that fits you it is extremely comfortable for carrying loads up to a total weight of 35lbs (16kgs) at a weight of about 1 kg.  Don't know about later models but mine has no side pockets, though there are straps which can be used to attach some.

Most comfortable pack I've ever used. Has two large stretch pockets on the sides that stretch big enough to take a laser comp and two good compression straps on the back that take a wet fly sheet, jacket or closed cell sleeping pad rolled up.

Enough capacity for winter if you're lightweight, probably about 55 - 60 litres. the extension collar is very long so will expand the pack quite a bit for varying loads. Some find this too long and a bit of a faff to pack and some even cut it down though the advice is to cut a section out of the middle so you keep all the seams at the top edge etc. Long as you get in the habit of rolling it outside before you pack then its no bother really.

Not the lightest pack and you could save half a kilo with something like a Gossamer Gear Mariposa, but fits me like a glove and is really, really comfy. Comes in three sizes too so good chance you'd find one to fit you.

Got one, love it. Used it for 6 months travelling round-the-world, and did lots of 2-5 day backpacking trips with it in new zealand.

Positives - as with Lucky Jim - the most comfortable sack I own. Perfect size (c. 45L + collar) for most usage. Very adaptable with the side compression straps and extending collar.

Negatives - fairly heavy compared to frameless packs (which its not, it has a plastic framesheet), not really big enough to carry a big rollmat inside it, much of its is silicone nylon so not as abrasion resistant as other fabrics (eg dyneema).

I switched to a golite gust for much of my hiking as it means I can carry my rollmat inside, and I've got more room for bulky lightweight food like crisps.

I'm 5'11 and a medium in nearly all clothes/kit. I'm a medium for the vapor trail as well.

I used one on the TGO Challenge last year and it was excellent the most comfortsble pack i have ever  used,  stable , light and well thought out. The only thing to watch out for is abrasion to the silicon fabric when scrambling a vunerable area is the area below the lower compression strap I am going to reinforce this with a patch other than that I would not use anything else its fantastic.
