Montane Featherlite Smock- 1 for 39.99, two for 50 pounds.

From the outdoors shop in Killin.  I don't think they do mail order, but you could try phoning them.

ive got the extrem smock, superb. Think this might make a good summer top, is it warm?? Are the sizings similar to the extrem (any experience?) I wear an army norgie shirt as base and think it may be a good second layer, what do you think?

Think this might make a good summer top, is it warm??

I wouldn't call it warm.  It is windproof, showerproof, very breathable but has no insulating properties.  Ideal for summer and it packs down to the size of an apple so you can always have it with you (I have one in a pocket of my fishing vest and it's all I've ever needed over a shirt for summer fly fishing).  It's ideal to bung on over a base layer when the breeze picks up or the temperature drops.

I have both the Extreme smock and the Featherlight smock.  Both garments fit me very well so I would say that the sizings are similar (at least in medium).

I found the sleeve length of the featherlight to be a good bit shorter than any of my other Montane stuff. Most of it is size Large but with the Featherlight I had to go up to an XL.

Voluminous kind of describes the subsequent fit.

I had same experience as Kev with the featherlight. If I was pregnant with arms that stopped at my elbows the fit would be perfect. Still, it's an extremely useful piece of kit. Anyone know anything similar with longer arms and less voluminous body?

I use a Rab Quatum windtop which has a more 'athletic' fit. Rab don't list them on their current stock list but here's a link.

Cheers mike. I think RAB himself was about my height with long arms so their stuff often fits me well. I found one here too ( I probably need a L or XL) , tho I don't know what colour shark is. How much DWR is there on it? - I actually would prefer as little as possible.

Hi ALS. I'm 5'10", 41" chest, 34" waist. I don't know if i have long arms but they go all the way from my hands to my shoulders. The Large fits me perfectly over a base layer and micro-fleece. Mine is grey (shark?) The DWR is minimal now but i think it had more when i got it. I've had it a few years and i can't remember. Like you i just want it to stop wind, not rain. Does what it says on the tin.

I use an X-large; 46 inch chest and 56 inch waist

The DWR was never up to much IMO.

Cheers guys

I might get one of those RAB ones I think I'm RAB shaped for my upper body and Montane shaped from the waist down.

I dont mind the fit of my Montane Featherlight too much but I feel I look like a twat on the hill as mine is the Fluro one

(I got it so I dont get run over while running not because I have no taste)
