Aquagear Water Filter Bottle

Just bought an Aquagear Water Filter bottle for £30.00 after some rave reviews - the logo and instructions printed on the outside of the bottle came off as soon as it got wet!

Anyone else had the same problem or have I got a duff one and I should send it back (always worried that external problems with quality are reflected with (more important) internal problems). See http://www.aquagearsurvivor.co.uk/ for product details.

Did it come with a neoprene cover to enclose the bottle? i took it off once to look at the instructions then put it back on again as its straightforward to use.

the printing is a known problem that has been reported to the manufacturers.

wouldn't have thought you'd need them. unscrew base, fill with water, screw on base.

they also do a canteen bottle which you can fill directly from your water source and then screw the top back on by the way. you always need a different container to fill the bottle to avoid contaminating the spout.

Cool, reassuring to know it is not just me.

Thanks

Thought I'd just check mine to see.

It's been submerged under water * for the last hour and the lettering is all intact. I just gave it a bit of a test scub with a non-scratch scourer too and the lettering is still not coming off!

Different batch perhaps?

BTW got mine from Bob C.

now try it with agricultural run-off water......

Mine came from Bob as well!  Graphics slewed off as soon as it got wet.  Cold water straight from tap.

Aye, mine too. Good job it's easy to use, eh?

The printing on mines fine.

The only problem I can see is that the mesh filter falls out easily.

Tried it out properly in the Lakes this  weekend and ended up chasing the filter downstream as it fell out as soon as I tipped the bottle up to fill it.

As it acts as the seal it needs sticking in somehow.

I'm still not convinced about these yet, normally the flow rate for this type of pre-filter, iodine filter, post-filter is a maximum of 150ml/min but the max flow on these is 300ml/min which could mean that they're as effective is squeezed too hard.

Was listening to the podcast on these and really didn't like the explanation by the aquagear rep on purification.

Don't know, I'm still wondering if these are too good to be true and look forward to longer term testing before I buy one.

I drink from streams anyway when running - so any benefit is better than none.  Would like to see some proper links to the "government testing" for peace of mind.
