just got a phd minim ultra vest, and noticed a smell to it- something akin to wet wool, it was more noticeable when i got it slightly damp. i have a patagonia down sweater and have never noticed it with this although this seems to have a more moisture repellent shell. any thoughts?

if it's new then ask PHD.  If it's second hand I'd consider getting it washed.  In the meantime store it uncompressed and well aired for a few days and see if anything changes.

I found the same thing with a brand new Tesco cheapy down bag and I tumble dried it with a couple of pimply balls (I just know you'll like that) from lakeland plastic and lo and behold the smell went away.

Yeah, Mal! I had that problem once too! But it went away wirh a cream from the local chemist's shop!

Trev I think you'd need more than cream if you stick your balls in the tumble dryer
