I used my new Aqua gear water filter bottle thingy I got off'f Bob on sat morn. On the instructions it says

• Before storing, allow filter to dry

Does anybody know how long this is likely to take? (this is my 1st water filter). Its been sitting with the cap open and the lid off to help it dry since sat afternoon and it looked dry when I peeked in there. I was about to stick it away when I thought "I know, I'll blow into the filter through the nozzle to see if it is dry" I did so and watched quite a bit of water bubble out of the filter back into the bottle in the mirror.

I dont think I'll be "storing" it as such because at this rate I will be using it again before it's dried out properly.

hey just think of what you are filtering! a drop of stale water won't hurt you. don't worry about it !

Hey Trev and Reg sorry no reply, my interweb's been playing up.

Gravity dont seem to be helping much Trev but after I blew through it from the nozzle a few times at seems to have dried now.

Reg your prob right, I just didnt want to store it and have it go yukky.

I asked Giles about this for you today and it will be fine if you leave it for a few hours to air and then put away.

In the unlikely event that anything should go a bit mouldy, (can't think why) the filter will do it's job again anyway when you use it and remove anything nasty. If you want to be extra safe, just flush it through once before using it and the filter will remove anything in there.

I've got 2 on the go at the moment, one my daughter is taking to Mexico with her in a couple of weeks and one Rose is taking on a long distance ride next week. I can't remember which one I used up in Cape Wrath in early May and they have just been sitting on the window sill and desk ever since.

They smell fine and I may give them a swill out, more out of habit than anything else, before they leave. Just remember it removes all bugs, taste and taint, as you will already have found out, so there's very little to worry about.
