Now just been having a look at the Pacific outdoors sleeping pads and was wondering if any one had come across them before... and if so how good the insulation on them was compared to say a thermareast or exped down mat.

Hi DW. Ive got a Insulat Max Thermo 3/4 (now renamed the Ether, I think, but the tubular one with synthetic filling), an A/O Lite 2/3, and the Bozeman Torsolite which is also manufactured by them.

The Max Thermo lies between Thermarest and Exped downmats for warmth, but is lighter than a downmat. MoS has had trouble with hers deflating though.

The others are the equivalent of a Prolite 3.

And I've found that the actual weights are about 20% higher than they quote on their website, grrr!! (Except the Bozeman - that was accurate.)

Cheers Matt looks like millets might have something i might want to buy for a change, had a quick search online last night and no one else in the Uk seems to stock them, Did you order yours from the states? or have i missed some other places in the UK that do them?

I'm getting a bit confused by the change of names but I got my Insulmat Max Thermo from Gogogear, Australia

With postage (I think it took about 2 weeks) it cost around £40 a couple of years ago. I was lucky and avoided any import tax or duties.

They are currently doing the InsulMat Ether thermo 6, regular for $A 74.95. Add on $A 15.95 for International Airmail postage (they say takes 1-4 wks) and it comes to about £44.00

Do check my figures but that sounds like a good deal still if it's the same as the Pacific Outdoors Eco Thermo 6 Mat @ £70.00 in your Millets link.

Of course you take the risk of having to pay import charges and getting one that develops a fault - dodgy valve - like me.

Thats one of the reasons i'd rather buy something like this in the UK incase of a need to return it ect. And wonder how much it would be if you got stung for import charges.
