I'm after a windproof with removable arms- anybody know of or recommend any? I had a Nike one which was a really handy piece of kit but they don't seem to be around any more.

I'd be inlcined to buy one you otherwise like and take it to your local alteration service.

There are a few mountain biking ones around, notably Gore Bikewear's Phantom and Alp X models - both Windstopper - though they're cut primarily for biking use. Adidas do a running jacket called the Converter Wind, Gore do a thing called the Air 2 Zip Off as well, again for running and I'm sure there are others out there.

Try searching on google.co.uk for windproof jacket with detachable sleeves, there are quite a few out there, though most are aimed at runner and bikers.

I've seen the Gore ones but I'm a bit wary of Windstopper, otherwise they'd be pretty much spot on. I have a Windstopper mountain jacket and I'm not particularly impressed with the breathability so I'm looking to steer clear of membrane windproofs.

Pete- hadn't thought of that, not a bad idea!

Yep, quite a few cycling ones about, try this one for instance:-

ground effect doctor smock

only available in yellow, but they do make some excellent gear, the merino/polyester mix tops are good value.

Here's one. Like Jon says, they're quite popular with cyclists and runners (and golfers!) so a trip to a specialist store could be productive. The new gore windsopper stuff looks interesting - nice and light and soft - and Haglofs are doing a shell in it with sneaky zips from neck to armpit, so kind of half-zip off sleeves - Zephyr Jacket.

Thanks ALS, that looks just the thing. It's actually MTBing I mostly have in mind but haven't come across bike specific ones that quite nail it. The Ground Effect one Lloyd mentions is closest but fluoro yellow has no place on the hills IMO!
