Oh yes, what was the question?

There are several threads that are appearing bold in IE and normal in Firey Fox.

No IE. If I find a badly coded site that will only work 'properly' with IE, I simply set my browser to identify as IE.

I do wonder how much of the continuing market share that IE appears to have is actually because folk have Fire Fox or other browsers set to identify as IE.

This one is great, terrific hood. You should be able to get it cheaper than springfield.

Berghaus Infinity.

A quick Google showed the Fitzroy at £109 here and £105 here.

Looking for the best insulating jacket that give gives me the most warmth for my £100 or less and at a reasonable weight as I'm going to be carrying it all day.

This will be for camp use whilst wild camping primarily 3 season on Dartmoor. I do noticablely feel the cold when I stopped in the evening.

The Fitzroy is a serious bit of mountain kit, suitable for winter use. I'd imagine it a bit OTT for 3 season use in the UK, being warmer, heavier & bulkier than needed. Might be worth looking at the Rab Generator, or the Montane Prism as alternatives

I here what you say CB about it being a serious bit of kit but I get seriously cold when I've stopped for the day.

I would rather be having to remove layers than be caught short and cold. You may be right and I might find it OTT then I could comeback and say 'you told me so'

I remember last autumn shivering like a child in my Montane Extreme Smock and having to retreat to my sleeping bag  early as my mates continued to enjoy the stars.

I'll take on board what you say and continue to have a think for a day or two.

Thanks to everyone for some thoughtful advice

As Chairman Bill has said, the Fitzroy (620g) is probably OTT for 3 season backpacking. The Alpkit Filo (690g) will be very warm, but is definately OTT for 3 season use. Most of the other suggestions will do the job. I use a few of them but carry my Montbell (206g) when 3 season backpacking, because there is nothing warmer for the weight. The fact it is down, is no problem if using it for camp use. I wear it under a wind-shirt.

For sheer warmth-weight ratio a down gilet would be best, especially as you could use it in conjunction with something like the Mont Bell UL
