Bought this tent a couple of days ago from the outdoor shop and so far am very impressed. Pitched it in my garden and it was very simple to erect, all the parts are good quality; very impressed with the guy rope tensioners in particular, they are very simple yet very effective. The porch is also huge, so much space in it to stash bags or cook in depending on bad weather. I will be camping in this tent in about 3 weeks so will give a more in depth review then.

Well I'm back from camping in my new tent and would give it a huge thumbs up! The tent was very comfy for two people but would be a squeeze for three. The huge porch at the front was excellent for stowing almost anything! The tent was very stable in thunder storms and condensation was not an issue.

Small problem the pegs weren't very strong, although the ground was very hard and so hard ground pegs would have been more suitable, having said this there are two types of pegs provided, the hook pegs were the problems. The others shaped like two pieces of metal crossed over were very strong!

So in conclusion very pleased, just need to replace a couple of pegs that in Vango's defence probably aren't suited to the ground they where used in.

Pitched three times -

Our back garden (1 night)
Friends lawn (1 night)
A camping site in the South Downs (5 nights)

On returning from West Sussex noticed that one pole had cracked and others were starting to crack.

Retailer cannot get spare poles from Vango so will have to return tent for a refund.

Not happy.

Any ideas for a similar tent that will last a bit longer?

Robens Fortress is a similar size & price, full geo though and a lot heavier. I've had one of them for 6 years...ish, as the name implies its a solid, heavy duty tent and I've never had any problems with it.

Any ideas for a similar tent that will last a bit longer?

Similar in what it's meant to do (3 person tent with lots of porch space at one end and meant to stand up to a bit of flak) would be a Hilleberg Nallo 3 GT, and quality and spares should be a non-issue.  Similar in price is something it ain't, however, but of course there is a reason for that...

Pete.
