Thanks DW

I shall probably never be heard from again

Got it!!

Blacks Manchester, got it for £152 as the xt I wanted to see was ripped & therefore not for sale.

Only had it up in the garden but it seems a great little tent:

First Impressions.

It's a well-made bit of kit and 'looks right'

2 pole design. Poles are pre-bent but have a small angled section at the apex of each arch which seems to make them extra springy - erecting the tent requires a 'longbow pose' but hopefully this will pay dividends strength-wise. Materials are certainly lightweight but it has a quality feel. Fly seams not taped and sealant is available 'on request' rather than supplied

Easy to put up (I left the instructions in the shop after the demo / trial run) so it must be simple  - will contact Lightwave for the PDF. Inner first and then fly velcros & tabs onto poles ends - just like the WW

Will have to experiment with the guying and tab positions to get it just right but first go was pretty much spot on. One concern would be the 6' run between the poles where there's nothing to separate fly and inner fto stop them touching - hopefully guying will sort this.

There's a weird 3rd short pole that keeps the front vent open but it appears to put strain on the top seam, worried this will evolve into a weak spot so I'm going to look at just guying the vent open instead.

Comes with the sexiest pegs you've ever seen - red square jobs, too nice to use - they'll 'walk' but only 8 (tent needs 11-15), 4 nylon loops which seem superflous and no pole  or peg bags

It's certainly roomy enough for 1; 2 would be silly, unless it was one on top of the other.... . The porch can only open 1 way but there's enough room for boots, cookstuff etc. Seems fine for cooking.

Packing poles in a roll-mat & pegs elsewhere than the side mesh pocket will allow this to be compression sacked into a very small bundle.

Certainly so far it seems a good bit of kit and reasonable value.

Thanks for the pointer - it was a good one

Rog

you should have got a pole bag  with it, this has a mesh pocket on the side for pegs.

e-mail Carol at Lightwave, they're a friendly bunch

For even sexier pegs look at the blue ones at www.cleats.co.uk

They are good. Replaced the less than great ones that came with my Akto. Well worth the money

i've just had a look, the mesh pocket is on the side of the tent bag

Yeah sorry I wasn't clear.

Using a spare peg bag I've put all the tent fabric in a compression bag - it's now mini football size. I'm taking 15 of the TNF alloy pegs instead as they're light, less likely to walk and they're finger-friendly - the supplied ones are a bit keen around the edge.

I'm only using my bathroom scales (so far) but without the two poles it seems to be only a smidge over 1KG.

Poles fold down to within the width of a yellow karrimor roll mat so that's good - the TNF ones were slightly long.

The kit is starting to come together now

I've posted 'the lot' in another thread to see if you guys have any opinions  on my kit / the total.

It's tricky getting the balance right and I'm hoping someone can guide me.

Alternatively I'll just set off with the lot and post it back to myself along the way
