A question to Osprey Stratos Owners.

I am interested in buying the Osprey Stratos and i would like to know some details about the hydration system. Except the possibility to put the hydration in the aircore backpanel, is there a place inside the pack and a hole for the hydration tube?

Really like my Stratos 24 - because Osprey DON'T have a "one size fits all" philosophy, you can get a really good fit.

I started by hanging my 3L camelbak bladder in the aircore space, and I don't think it made any difference to the ventilation, but the sound of the water sloshing around is a little distracting, and because it hangs unsupported, the weight of the water bends the Camelbak hook out of shape.

Have since swiitched to using the dedicated inside hydration sleeve and tube routing (thus answering your question). The only disadvantage is that, combined with the curved back, the bladder does take up quite a bit of the internal space, though on my 24L model there is still plenty of room for everything you would need on a summer day out.

Would recommend this pack without reservation. The stretchy side pockets are great and perfectly accessible with the sack on, and the zip pockets on the hip belt are surprisingly capacious.

Hope this helps.

Can you be more specific about the tube routing?

Through the back into the very top of the aircore space via a vertical slit approx 4cm long, then out of the sack through a 3cm wide slit at the very top of the pack, exactly on the centreline between your shoulders.

Specific enough?

christian - I use a bladder in the aircore space of my stratos and it has a loop to it hang from. Have you got a duff sac? And just as an added endorsement, It's the most comfortable and practical sac I've ever used.

Yep Dicky, I have the loop as well so the sac is OK

I was commenting on the open ended hook that the the standard Camelbak bladder uses. When it is in my camelbak HAWG or in a sleeve it is fine, but when hanging in the aircore space all of the weight of the water is held by the plastic hook and it has deformed to the point where the bladder now routinely falls off it.

ah sorry - I use a Source bladder, which has a simple "handle" arrangement, through which the loop fastens. Sounds like an excuse for you to go gear shopping Oh, and my bladder is 2l so obviously weighs less than yours

I have the Stratos 32 and the same alternatives apply as on the 24.  I only use the internal bladder pocket as my old Platypus doesn't have a means of being attached in the aircore back panel.  The tube is easy to route through from the inside of the sack to the outside.
