Hi there.

I was looking forward to buying an Alpkit Pipedream 600 (or 400) but they;ve sold out until autumn. Any advice?

I wildcamp for 3 weeks at a time in the UK and need something lightweight. I am retiring my MacPac down bag which was lovely and light as it had no down in the bottom, but can't afford another.

I need it smartish too... Wish I was a bit more organised!

Thanks,

Jack.

Never mind, Jack, have a look at the phd summer sale - maybe a Minim 300 would do the trick? Mine's on order!

Pheew looks like I got my PD 400 just in the nick of time then.

I shall be testing it this weekend Kate.

The Rab Quantum Endurance 400 is a very good bag, I certaily fit mine well. You need to find something that fits you needs and your body though. The Quantum 400 just came top of the pops in Chris Townsend's TGO test of 3 season bags.

Kate, your note was just what I needed to jolt me into action. Yes, my minim 300 is on order, too! UK made and seemingly praised by Sir Ranulph Fiennes... I feel a bit of patriotism coming on, must go for a lie down!

Haven't been this excited since I got my t0 trek, and soon I'll have a 'proper' bag to go in it, too!

I think I'd better contact phd for some commission

You'll be lucky. I've heard that Bruce is as tight as a very tight thing.

Jack, just noticed your post says you need it pretty smartish....

PHD are fairly well known for great gear manufactured in slow time. You could potentially be waiting for up to 4 weeks for delivery if previous sales are anything to go by.

Beth ordered the Chamonix down jacket at 00:01 on 1st August and it arrived this morning; my order (including Minim 300) hasn't arrived yet, I suspect cos I wanted a zip. If it's 'standard' (ie 'standard' length and no zip), I spect there's a chance it might come quicker, but they do say if you need stuff by a certain date to let them know, so give them a ring. Then if you know if isn't going to come in time, cancel the order and look into the Rab bag fb mentioned.

Another option is Cumulus - I know they do a bag comparable to the Pipedream 400 and for a similar price.

There used to be a Mountain Equipment outlet shop in Glossop (I assume there still is), you could see what they have in stock.
