I Tech Wash'ed and re-proofed my Superfly XT today and, to my disapointment, some of the fabric has become unstuck.

It's the  bit at the bottom of the jacket where the drawcord passes through to tighten the fabric up. It's just a fold of fabric and was glued to keep in place.

I will contact Montaine on Monday about it but was wondering if anyone here knows what type of glue would be suitable to repair this?

I'd guess SeamGrip would do it, but I wouldn't want to run with that guess before asking Montane.  They'll know for sure, and it'll only be a day.

Pete.

Thanks Peter.

I did want to take it along with me tomorrow but I think the weather will be good enough to get away with the Featherlite Smock instead.

My XT was a salesmans version (picked it up from the Factory outlet for £140!) so I wonder if there was some worksmanship that wasn't up to the 'real' jacket standard?

Anyway, I'll give Montane a call on monday. I'll post their recommendations here.

Had an ordinary Superfly which was worn for only 2/3 times and the tape on the inside seams had started to come away.Phoned Montane who originally said that I should take it back to the shop where I purchased it from.Pointed out that I had bought it on holiday in Dorset approx 200 miles away.Montane then asked me to send it to them and they later replaced it with a brand new 2008 Superfly Jacket.Still hanging up in the wardrobe unused. Can't decide whether to keep or place on E Bay.

I phoned Montane and they told me that if the glue is still present than you can lay a cloth over the seam and using an iron, on low heat, to re-melt the glue to re-stick it.

Failing that they said to use Seam Grip as Peter suggested.

Interesting! When I asked Montane about renewing the DWR on a Montane jacket, they said to iron it, but to avoid the seams. Now I know why they don't want the seams ironed!
