The Starlyte II only has a comfort rating of 3C. I wouldn't fancy using it in winter, even with extra clothes.

I've got one Stevieboy.  Only good for summer on it's own - need a similar inner bag for '4 seasons'.   Awful bulky but warm when wet - dry you out if you get wet too.

Haven't backpacked with it for 20 years.  My son uses it as a liner for under his quilt at home in the winter!

If you don't use it get it on ebay with a good description and photo - there are still Buffalo fans out there who will snap it up. Or offer it on the classifieds here maybe...

I think you will really struggle to get a winter bag (new) for under £50 regardless. You might pick a snugpak on fleabay for that kind of money....but be prepared to wait it out.

I had one of the Buffalo P/P bags that I used for group use - cold/wet kid into it kind of thing, but never quite got a handle on the compressability definition - Buffalo's and mine didnt coincide...LOL

I'd be tempted to keep it...and slide an ordinary bag into it for cold use....maybe? The Buffalo winter system used a lightweight down bag inside it to great effect.

I've used a Firewalker II (predecessor to Starlight - not quite as warm) for 4 years including some high up winter use. I have to wear a fair few clothes to stay warm including using my fairly heavy belay jacket inside the bag as extra insulation. The cold usually gets to me from about 3am if it's below freezing. It's usable all year round if you accept you'll have the odd cold night. Having said that the furthest north I go is the Lake District.

Got one and really surprisingly you need to use a liner (i use silk or cotton or both) and sometimes clothing if it is really cold.

Saying that it cost me £60 new, and lets you camp out and does the job, I don't expect to sleep naked, it's a three season bag.  If it's too cold my missus only stays in B&B's anyway!
