as said i need a pack that is small enough that i can use for school but big enough to be used for a bear minimum overnught camp. i have been looking at alot of sacks and have settled on a open trampoline design for the back (its not horribly important but they are the best for ventilation at a budget) on to the price i dont want to pay more that 30 pounds.

i really like ramblesacks because of the shape and back systems but they dont have straps for attatching things like a groundmat and tent (alot of you will argue but by bear minimum camping i mean a stove tent sleeping bag and clothes, its not that bear minimum i know)

so what i need is a pack around 30L( or more) that has straps on the outside, a good backsystem,  and costs 30 pounds. at the very most.

it must be available at a large store like millets or tiso or something like that.

help would be greatly apreciated

What about the berghaus roam 30 pack? http://www.wildtrak.com/product.asp?ID=2755
£35 from wildtrak. I doubt you will be able to get exactly what you want for £30 to be honest - especially not with a good back system as well - that tends to push the price up. I don't have experience of the Roam, but it does not look too flashy, so it would be good for school. It has straps on the bottom for walking poles which could also be used to strap a ground mat to. It also has attachment points on the top.

In fact I'd like it for myself if I thought the back was short enough for my shorty stature!

The other option would be to try looking in a local army discount type shop - sometimes they sell old bergens and other packs quite cheaply.

that roam 30 pack does look quite good

i have re-evaluated my needs and have realised that i could do with a 30 - 40 litre pack that doesnt have to be a ramblesack and i dont care too much anout how flashy it looks

definetly something with alot of straps and a back system that is rigid and alright at cooling
