Southport has some Ladies Trekmates Merino tops down to £14. and some Vango 'Freeback /Airsupply/whatever daypacks for £15.

bugger all else. It looks like the store has had a good clear out in the last few weeks.

Interesting, Doc, I thought the Cardiff store was looking rather bare when I was in there 10 days or so ago. Wonder if they're clearing out for 'new season' stuff or cutting back for economic reasons.

They seemed to shift an awful lot of stock around Christmas; I went in to the Bournemouth branch on successive days just before xmas, and saw a very marked reduction in the stock over 24 hours...

Then they had a 'Final clearnace' sale at the end of January.

So I'm hoping for a load of new stock to come in...

Lots of nice Henckels kitchen knives in TKM again, 4*, 5*, Prof S.

All 'B' grade cosmetic seconds, but keen prices (e.g. £13 for a 4* 8" chef's knife, cf rrp £50).

I just got a Trangia 27/5 with the non stick pans in Southport for £20.

It was hidden away in all the multitool/ torches/ crap executive games bit.

However it was the last one, but maybe more stores have them.

Sweet FA in Cambridge today except the usual Craghoppers gear.

Plenty of Kiwi Trousers in sizes 36 and 38 for around £16.99. Many fleeces at the same price, mainly in XXL.

The odd Keen Sandal and Raichle Shoe but no "bargains" really.

Trekmates brand at TK Max York. Could not bring myself to fight through the clothing but there was plenty of other kit: camelbak bags and small rucksacks, trekking poles, travel towels etc., Bivvy bag (taped seams, breathable but unknown material) now £16 and a variety of Trekmate 'Thermarests' (also about £16) - mummy, big and 3/4.

Found the following in Clapham Junction TKMAXX

Brasher Azuma GTX boots £65 -

Sebago Wave Outflow boat shoes £25 - should hopefully be good for White Water Rafting and walking in the river.

Look out for the Hilly Clothing running socks in TKMaxx (which would be good for trail-shoe walking too).

This season's top of the line Mono Skin Supreme was £3.99 from about £11... I rate them as better than the X-Socks Sky Runner.

I spotted the Hilly socks, and the reference to Ron Hill.  I take it that he's no longer associated with Ronhill clothing, then?
Show/hide user stats

Hi CP,

good question. Hilly certainly state that they have had Ron Hill's involvement at design level, but the Ron Hill brand is still trading as normal. Perhaps the rights to Ron Hill were bought out? Their waterproof running jackets now seem to be sold under another brand name too.

In any case, first impressions of the socks are very positive... nice blend of fibres too...

My understanding is that Ron Hill was "bought out" some years ago by the same parent company that owns both Mountain Equipment and Sprayway.  In the same vein Berghaus and Brasher are both now owned by the same parent company.  Back on message I got some Hilly socks in the Stoke on Trent (Hanley) TX Maxx agree good value at £3.99.

If you can "rummage" in the right place TK Maxx has from time to time some real sock bargains.  One of my more recent favourates was Tresspass Marino Wool socks for circa £5.00.

Colchester has a pair of the Brasher Azuma GTX boots at £65 in stock; does anyone have experience with these boots?

Thanks, Mark
