well spotted. 'Down to' you are correct.  I'm a little concerned about being cold when on lifts, but too warm when actually boarding

I have a more general question about fleeces. Seeing as I'm of the short persuasion I really try to find XS sized stuff if I can so it actually fits properly. Outdoors clothing simply doesn't seem to come in XS and even standard S is larger than other types of clothing.

Is there anything wrong with something like these two?

What don't they have that a (badly fitting) £50 outdoor brand fleece does?

Ta.

A lot of cheaper brands use fleece that tends to 'flatten' very quickly. I think the fleece from the likes of Malden Mills and Pontetorto(sp?) are worth paying a bit extra for as they hold their 'loft' for longer. The best bet for simple fleece is to spend 10 mins in your nearest TKMAXX. There are usually hundreds to try on and i would think you'll find one that fits, at a very good price.

I guess TKMaxx is worth a shot.

I wonder though, what is the most important factor for warmth - whether it fits well or whether it's a higher spec fleece? I reckon a well fitting cheapo fleece might end up warmer than an ill fitting technical fleece.

Sports Direct do a quater length 100 weight karrimor fleece in their sale for £12.  I have a couple and find them as good as a comparable Polartec 100 fleece.

Personally I think Powerstretch is the most versatile and useful of the fleece fabrics. Warmer and a little more wind resistant and 100-weight fleece, but not as warm as 200-weight, with a great feel on the skin and good breathability. Also resists abrasion well: IMO definitely worth forking out a little bit extra for.
