I Damaged my berghaus gortex trousers last year in february doing winter skills in Scotland and i had them repaired and used them for the first time in brecon in November but within an hour they had broken again (zips) so i thought its time for a new set !
Ive been using my Paramo all year so hadn't needed them until i went to the Brecons
If you're happy in Paramo you may want to consider their trews rather than overtrousers.
My idea of good overtrews is a pair that take up minimal space in my pack since I have no intention of wearing them unless the rain seems set in. But being a skier I want full side zips, so I use ME's lighter Rainfall model. Lighter, and much, much cheaper, they still work pretty well. Not the sort of thing to expect to stand up to heavy trashing, but if they're in your pack 95% of the time (as mine are) that's not an issue (mine are about 6 or 7 years old and are still in good order). But if you really insist on living in them a lot then these aren't the right thing.
