Hello, I wonder if someone could help me out here, I read a lot of very good reviews and now I am thinking about getting a good looking Vango Tempest 300. One thing that I wonder about though: Is this tent long enough for someone who is almost two meters? (probably 6ft 3 of 6ft 4) Is the back of the tent steep enough to avoid touching the innertent,(and flysheet). The Vango site says that the innertent is 2.15, but I wonder about the slooping foot end of the tent... Thanks for any info...

my mate and i have spent a night in a bango tempest 300 with no problems (as would be expected from 2 peeps in a 3 man tent) my mate with a full length si mat had plenty of room left at the bottom of the mat for another good 20cm or so. if you are a bit too long for the inner then make sure your head/feet is pushing the inner on the porch side, therefore not touching the fly. great tent though, just make sure to practice pitching it to get the fly taught as it can tough the inner at the ceiling if it is pitched wrong

Im a wee bit shorter than you and my head and feet touch the inner so i find myself shoving up against the door/porch end to keep my feet of the sloped inner. You might want something longer. I have the 200 but i think the length is the same as the 300.

Thanks for the quick reply, Aah! I was hoping to hear that there would be plenty of space between the flysheet and the innertent at the lower side of the tent.. I had this problem with the Colemand Phad X3, ( innertent is 2.10) and that is the reason I sold that tent , otherwise it was an excellent tent. Pity there are only a few tents that are long enough not to worry about touching the flysheet, through the inner, and keeping the sleepingbag dry. I know the Gelert Meteor Beyond 3 is something like 2.30 , and has a decent price, but I have not read any reviews.

Hi! I have a Vango Tempest 150 and whilst it is a great tent my 6'3" frame only just squeezes in length wise so you may want to consider something different. Have you looked at the VauDe tents (Taurus, Hogan etc) as they tend to be longer? Good tents too!

Hi, Vaude tents are too expensive for me right now, but I am considering a Coleman Ohio 2. That has an innertent that is 230 cm, quite comfortable I suppose. I am not too sure if the porches are big enough to do some cooking though. But the price is very good: 75 eruos on Ebay.

Hello, I bought the Coleman Ohio 2, because of the length of the innertent: 233 cm. No wet sleepingbag there! I have not used it yet, but I erected it once and took pictures that I put on a site, so if anyone is interested just click on the link and have a look at the images. http://colemanohio.weebly.com/ Thanks, Peter

vango spectre 200. I have it and I'm 6'5" tall. I don't get anywhere near the ends (its a three pole tunnel with a side entrance). It also has little alcoves at each end where the tunnel goes to points. This gives you storage and means the fly is nowhere near the inner if you happen to be a lot taller than me. Good design and £90 or a lot cheaper (got mine for about £65 or £50). It is a good two man tent as well, I used two full sized sleep mats in it and tried them side by side to see how much room for two ppl it has and the two full sized sleep mats go side by side with a big gap around them too. I lay on each of them in turn and thought that two ppl of my size could sleep in that tent quite comfortably. It is 2kg in weight but IME is quite stable. I only use it for a car camping tent as its too heavy for my liking for solo use (which is my main usage for a backpacking tent) but for two ppl it would be good. It is D of E recommended kit BTW and surprisingly it is still good quality despite being budget enough for D of E. I posted a mini review on a thread about it on the forum somewhere last year in Sept or Oct I think. If you can find it then you'll have a bit of info on how I found it in use. BTW I only look at tents with about 230m inner tents. I reckon pretty much all tents lose about 20cm of useable length due to the slopes at the ends and you will need space to ensure if you do move you will not slip into the inner to touch the outer of the tent. Bear in mind you might be pitching on a slope so can slip off your mat pushing the inner into the outer.

Hello TimetoGo, I checked the Vango Spectre as well. They were interesting too. I bought the Coleman because it is a geodesic design, but the Spectre has the best colour I think, and it is lighter, there is a good video on youtube' ( on the Youtube video you can see that there is a lot of space between the innertend and the fly at the end of the tent, as you said, space for storage) and it looked good. Vango has got a good reputation I understand, but we cannot get them here in France, so I could not go and see one 'live'. One other tent Vango made was the Shadow 200, That had a very long innertent, 250 cm if I remember well, but the three poles did not go all the way from corner to corner, so i thought it would not be as sturdy as a geodesic. Anyway, I hope the Coleman will do well, haven' t tried it yet, but it looked promising when I put it up.
