i've used / and still use on occasion a snug pak pillow. I need to boost this with clothes to get a decent height.

Then I started using clothes in a stuff sack, and use a fleece neck gaiter/scarf thing over the sack and hey presto a pillow thats a decent size, doesn't fall apart in the middle of the night with custom stuff levels, doesn't weight anything (dual use), with a nice fleece outer.

The other thing to try is taking a cotton pillow case and stuffing that.

Fleeces make great pillow fillings

Having bought the Decathlon pillow, I was in a poundland shop and saw their version and thought oh its only a quid so I bought one. So comparing the two:-
The Decathlon is slightly larger in length at 45cm v 42cm for poundland, but Its also much broader at 36cm v 29cm both weigh about 80grams.
The poundland is made of PVC with a soft 'furry' finish it, has an oval area in the middle to form a dimple that should not inflate as much as the surround but unless you inflate the pillow really hard it hardly comes into play. The sealed edges of the pillow only measure 3mm and could be a weak spot if excess pressure is applied.
The Decathlon is made of polyester which has a surface somewhat like a Li Lo, its a bit 'crinkly' like a Neoair but not as bad. Similar construction to the poundland but the central oval is held a lot closer together and so is more apparent. The sealed edges measure 12mm and it's far more robust.
In use one is not going to inflate these fully to be comfortable so either will serve although I would not want to put my weight on my elbow on the poundland pillow.
I've not tried them camping but have used the Decathlon pillow at home to sleep on and found it fine

I have one of those Mammut jobbies, and don't really rate them. They're not really high enough for me, unless they're on their side. But then they tend to pop out from underneath your head. And they're really, REALLY noisy- they squeak loads! If I'm car camping you can not beat a proper domestic pillow!

Otherwise, I'll just turn my Rab VR/Buffalo jacket inside out, keeping the arms in, and fill the inside with what ever soft clothing I have left.

yeah, my only thought about the Poundland one was longevity, worth a punt at a quid though.

I dont need a really comfortable pillow, more a bit of height to stop me getting a creak in my neck. I find i dont really carry enough clothes to do this.

Macho posturing - it's not big, it's not clever, and it might give you a stiff neck....

Cheers, i'll try the 'snickers rolled in a drybag' pillow idea next time i'm out...

Anyone else with any trail snack related pillow ideas?...
