John, thanks for the recommendation however they're a bit more than I was willing to spend.

 Ben, I'd seen the Aegis and for the money it seemed like a good deal. I've also looked at the Berghaus Paclite, which I've seen for £80, but I've heard the Paclite material isn't very robust. How does it compare to the Aegis? I like the fact that the Paclite has a stiff peak to the hood.

 I'm not looking for the lightest jacket going, more a reasonably breathable, sturdy jacket for everyday use that I could also use for fairweather walking/hiking.

 Any more suggestions?
