Not good, I'd be spitting nails by now. Regardless of whether you're keeping it or not you should be straight on to Yeomans, 900g over the stated weight is taking the piss.

I'd agree, take it back, not fit for purpose, false advertising etc.......

The're not the only manufacturer to take the piss with their advertised weights. That's the biggest difference i've seen between an actual, and advertised weight though. Out of order.

I am not that surprised tbh. I would have thought a 2 man tent at 1.6kg was pretty light and with the sort of materiel used in a £35 tent was unrealistic. The Tiger paws was around 2kg iirc and that was only one man and had better quality poles and probably pegs. From your split weights it looks like it has been weighed without the poles and pegs. Also to be fair if the pegs are swapped and maybe the poles it is probably still a reasonable buy but obviously the stated weight is misleading.

I had a look at the link from the original discussion. Assuming it used to say the tent weighed 1.7 kg, they have amended it to read 2.6 kg. I would guess this is probably an honest mistake as many tent manufacturers quote a minimum weight that assumes you only use the outer in warm weather. It would be easy for someone who didn't know better (or look more carefully) to pick up the wrong figure.

If you're used to lightish tents did you not think, erm, this feels a bit heavy for 1.7kg when you picked it up in the shop? I mean it's nigh on a full kg out.....

Looking at your adapted weight, if the inner weighs just over 900gms you now have a two person 'tarp-tent' at aroud a kilo which isn't bad Obviously depends on whether you want a 2 man 'tarp-tent'

.JPG) Twigs - got a linky to the ali poles you use to replace the fibreglass ones with? Ta.

This tent looks similar to the Vango Spirit, and considering that costs a lot more and weighs around 2.3kg, Im not surprised this doesnt weigh 1.7kg.

For good, bad or otherwise - it's now on their site at £29.95! Is it worth a punt?

I also was taken in by the weight of the tent, should have known better. got it ready for my hadrians wall walk later in the year. have replaced the pegs with very light ally ones and will be getting lighter poles as well. just a bit disapointed thats all. Boon

When they do tent weights they normally take the pegs and bag out the equation!

I'm not worried, twiglegs, but I don't care who it is - I just don't see any place for posts, or posters, like that on the forum. It's not constructive, and it's certainly not 'banter', but it is rather pathetic.
