I've just purchased a Fuera windproof top and so far it looks a good investment. Purchased cheaper than most other tops but with the added benefit of durability and good hood system although a bit heavier. Read some good things on here in relation to the windproof tops. I've already got a waterproof top similar to paramo (furtech) so looked at a way of enhancing the warmth a tad and found the trekker hoodie at a good price. Just wondered if any of the paramo fanatics here has a hoodie and can give me their opinion of it. To me it seems a midway between a baselayer and a fleece jumper with the benefit of a hood and paramo state it goes well with the fuera jacket. I look forward to responses. (wonder if parky will be first? )

you rang? i have one and admit i haven't worn it that much for the simple reason i own a few shirts of the same material and tend to wear those.
i also have a stretch fleece hoodie which is brilliant but unfortunately a limited run - i think some may still be available in red from paramo's ebay shop..
as it's the same fabric as my shirts, albeit in "light" guise i think, i would rate it highly albeit it's typical paramo baggy. the fabric has fairly good wind resistance and i've always found it to be warmer than it looks. it wicks from below exceptionally well - i use the same "light" fabric as a towel - from fluffy to smooth. it can be reversed i believe although i haven't yet reversed one - i tend to undo a button/zip if i'm getting a bit warm.
but to the real world again...combined with a paramo jacket, your furtech will be even worse, it's a warm combination and you may not like it. by itself it's fine and with the fuera windproof it's, well, fine too but it is warm.
but i'm in the south east and if you're in scotland it is probably perfect to cope with the extreme weather experienced there.
so would i recommend it. tricky one. i like it a lot but it is warm. early morning and evening it would be nice to take the chill off the air. during the day with a windproof on outside of winter or colder moments it may prove to be too warm for you - it would be the equivalant, roughly of a full paramo/furtech jacket.

It is the stretch jacket i'm looking at in red. I've read the blurb and its marketed as a base layer. Its to wear if really chilly with the windproof rather than my furtech. I probably would not combine them all.↲I can't find mamy reviews online but will keep looking. ↲Thanks mate.

Simon, I also own a Paramo Stretch Hoodie and its a highly water and wind resistant fleece. On the swing tab which came with mine it says to wear it over a Paramo base layer and to combine with a Paramo windproof for superior protection from the elements. As Parky has said it can be warm and it isn't reversible as said on the Paramo ebay shop.I think that someone has just copied the details for the Trekker Hoodie. The Paramo Trekker Hoodie is a variation of the reversible Parameta S Light shirts with a hood and full lengh zip and can be worn next to the skin something I wouldn't want to do with the Stretch Hoodie. There are many positive reviews of the Paramo Parameta S reversible shirts around.

the stretch fllece isn't the trekker hoodie. it's nothing like it - either thankfully or shame depending upon viewpoint. the stretch fleece is proofed, is considerably warmer than it looks, baggy (cough! even by paramo baggy) and is karisma like for wind resistance. i like mine immensely - in an olive type colour and they'd sold out of black ones before i could buy one of those too. It goes extremely well with the torres gilet. (not sure about the red colour...)

I probably wouldn't reverse it and was looking at it in place of a regular fleece jacket and the price on ebay doesn't seem to bad however only two left now and need to wait until the end of the week. Maybe Graham you could send me details either on email or scan the tag that came with your stretch trekker so that I can see them. If I get a chance maybe I'll ring paramo and have a word with them to confirm the details also.

noooooooo. the fleece ISN'T the trekker hoodie. different thing altogether.
|
 |
why can't i find anything about the stretch hoodie then? ebay states a special item?
|
 |
there isn't a stretch trekker hoodie. it's a stretch fleece - which has a hood. two different jackets. two different fabrics.
the fleece was made from a sample fabric run in very limited numbers and will not be repeated apparently - paramo have to buy a very large amount of the fabric.

so the question is will it be any good?
|
 |
what one? both are. in very different ways.
|
 |
I was wondering if the one on ebay is any good however the picture and description may not be correct for the heading so I'll contact paramo direct to see what has happened.

As part of my continuing clearout of unused outdoor gear,I have decided to sell both of my Paramo Stretch Fleeces.See the link below for the list of gear that I am selling on ebay. They are listed as "Paramo Fleece Hoody(karisma type fleece)"

I think its the best fleece I've ever owned. Wear it everyday to work and going out. Fit was good for me and hasn't shown any signs of bobbling like some fleeces.

Hmmmm. Neither Parameta S or Karisma is stretchy so maybe something is wrong in a description there...

The Paramo Trekker Hoodie is discontinued. Its not on Paramo's website. I'm wearing mine now. I had to customise it via stitching the hood down so its close-fitting to give some insulation from the silly "helmet compatible". Also , earlier, the Paramo Fuera Peak, which is the matching windproof to the Trekker Hoodie was discontinued some time ago. Paramo has been pushing the Summit Hoodie and Fuera Ascent combo. That is comparable to the Trekker Hoodie and the Fuera Peak but different in that the Trekker was reversible and wicking meaning you could wear it a long time and be comfortable. The Summit Hoodie sweats in the back a lot more as its trying to resist water (its proofed). RIP Trekker Hoodie and Fuera Peak.
