Nigel, interesting you refer to Colin Ibbotson and TGO,I now him well, I completed eleven Challenges, five in the early days when it was the Ultimate Challenge sponsored by Ultimate. My windproof was purchased
from one of the challenge sponsors many moons ago.

Daniel, I can,t help you with your query, the only readable label
says Pertex/pertex.As above I bought it long ago,the sleeve cuffs are frayed but it still performs well.Could have been Ultimate or Craghopper I just don,t know.Cheers

well I only listen to podcasts when walking, which I do when its raining, I live in California so you can tell Colin his voice was being heard whilst walking around Belmont. When cycling I just whistle a happy tune. I vary the temperature I am in by about 10C in about 40 minutes by cyling up a hill quickly. and then descend again, the insulation range required is quite large. I have found "less is more" and recently moved to sandals as that made my feet warmer and hence drier.

I am just now testing, in the remaining wet days of California spring, my gear for a 4 week UK summer outdoors trip. Not sure where, will include Lake District and possibly Scotland. TGO Challenge, I was impressed with the commitment in the bad weather of last year, seemed to rain a lot!

Well, tose two brands are good places for me to start looking.  Thanks for checking.  It's appreciated.  As much as I'm outdoors in all kinds of weather and temps, a double layer of Pertex would be a great option; and very versatile too.

I've used a windbreak jacket for years (Berghaus), it's horses for courses. The only time I realy use it is the summer. Otherwise it's the usualy Wicking T, Soft and Hardshell. I find them handy in the summer to use instead of a softshell/fleece.

The last time I was in the Cairngorms in the summer a t-shirt/wind jacket/ light weight waterproof jacket was all I needed. The wind jacket has a hood and is fine if a shower hits, even a lightweight waterproof gets clammy there.

Not sure what it's made off I'll check the wardrobe. I do know that it's as light as a feather and packs into it's own pocket, worth taking along.
