hi all, thinking of buying a 1litre etapower or similar pot.....but gas cartridges don't seem to fit in it. are they all the same size? also, i'd like to fit my trangia burner (approx 100mm max diameter ) in it. suggestions for alternatives welcome, but keep it cheap, no titanium £60 jobbies!  cheers all, hope you had a good weekend!

 I don't understand, why would you use a trangia burner with an eta power pot? Surely the base heat exchanger would only get sooted up and the heat produced wouldn't be high enough to make it effective anyway. A primus 230 cartridge should fit into it, at least I can fit one into my primus litech trek kettle which is the same thing only without the base heat exchanger.

 I think he means a Trangia gas burner.... a standard trangia meths burner isn't 100mm diameter, but the feed tube on a gas one probably makes it that.

Surely you wouldn't be using the eta pot in a trangia? Are you using the trangia gas burner in another stand than the trangia one its meant for? I know there is at least one stand out there that is meant to hold it. Just curious as to why a heat exchanger pot with a gas burner meant for a specific system. No real alternatives to the eta pot unless you get one of the bigger eta range of pots. I think you can get a 1.4l pot that is as used in the main / original eta cook set. You can pick up plain titanium pots cheaper than £60 if you shop around. Outdoor Warehouse in WIndermere and online do Vargo ones cheaper IIRC. As do BPL-UK I believe, although I haven't been on that site for ages and ages so can't be sure ( only once a week in case something new comes in).

thanks TTG. i would be using the burner separate from the rest of the trangia; currently trying to make my own one, so would be v interested if you have the address for the 'real' one . i have found out that yes, i'm a fool, all the gas canisters in the shop fit, burner was a bit tight. i also found out that cotswold don't sell display pots cheap if they're dinged (this one eta power had a crumpled 'skirt' ) and that blacks do a very similar one for £12! cheers, sw

It's even more similar to a Coleman set. I like the rounded corners to the flat base (good for cleaning), but I'd rather have flush-mounted handle rivets; the prominent rivets are a bit of a dirt trap. They're pretty clear on what 'multifuel' means: Alcohol: meths, ethanol, methanol Solid fuel: Esbit, hexamine White Gas: aka pure petrol, Coleman fuel, Aspen 4T Canister gas: butane/propane etc. What they're saying is, I think, that the Clikstand, since it is designed to take a Trangia burner, will also take either the gas or liquid fuel conversion kits available for the Trangia stove. The bit at the bottom about windshields I suspect refers to liquid fuel stoves. Since their windshield looks to be 'aluminium siding', it probably wouldn't be able to cope with the high power output from a liquid fuel burner. I'm not convinced the rest of it would, either...

spooky! i was just going to put a call out for the Almighty Cap'n P! straight up! was going to ask if you had any ideas/drawings/suggestions . was looking at the coleman system oN cave & crag... am pretty sure i can fit the gas burner in a s/b value grapefruit tin, but the pan support? do you think steel garden mesh would work? (have only a dremel & hacksaw ) or would opened & folded cans work better? would be interested to know if anyone has a supplier of ?1mm aluminium plate to make a pan support/windshield. cheers all!

I had considered that but thought Sw3 couldn't mean it as I thought the burner of a Trangia gas conversion unit would be too large for use with a 1L Litech trek kettle. I have since checked mine and can see that it's probably feasible. Jumping to conclusions on a false premise, eh?

 Primus ETA express, (I really love mine). Yes you can buy cheaper, but I got mine for the bargain price of £56.00 delivered from Army Rations. I always search products on google shopping and filter by lowest first; there is always somewhere with a sale on.

.JPG) If you're looking for a lightweight lid to fit your ETA pot instead of the supplied mini frying pan, a CD or DVD covered with a couple of layers of strong tinfoil is a perfect fit.
