Some years ago there was a 3led array mounted in a bulb body which screwed into the Zoom (I had one), but I believe it has long gone out of production.

Likewise, there used to be (and may well be still) MYOG instructions how to do it...but

technology has moved on so much that I doubt you could make one with todays high powered single LEDs.   The issue is heat dissipation - and you need to have a reasonable heat sink, which just cant be done without really chopping your torch about.  Then there is cost.  I recently bought a 220 lumen Cree Q5 head torch for £7 I think as the base for a project.  The LED by itself is £5 maybe?

I've book marked them.

I was going to suggest someone like RS Components, Farnell or Maplins.

But bear in mind:

This bulb is all of 20 Lumen.  A halogen is about 90 I think.

Also, it is 4.5V, which means three 1.5 cells.  From memory, the Zoom is four cell, which means you need to install a dummy cell to keep the voltage down - or put in a resistor

I have a petzl micro zoom - takes 3 AAA's

The Zoom takes those 4.5v hard to find batteries doen't it?

Later zooms take AAs, earlier zooms can be converted with...a converter

Two things Alun...

OM is a commercial site and depends on advertising revenue - so, if you wish to advertise I suggest you talk to Jon Doran, the site editor and chief Miester.

second thing.

The bulb you are selling is 100 lumen and £14.  No harm to you, but I bought a 300 lumen focussable jobby for £7 (maybe it was £8)....

Nevertheless, as a replacement for the halogen on a Duo for caving or something, I see the attraction.
