got a velez adventure recently, stiching coming out all over the place after 2 days, and zips started leaking 1st time out, half an hour walk from low wray site to drunken duck, lakes. side of intercostals in moderate rain, no wind...oh and starting to wet out after an hour. HH Lifa underneath. not a big problem (yet) but.... thought p*r*m* was supposed to be the DB'S ? I usually use montane speed-light for 90% of rain & berghaus paclite smock with short zip and good wired hood 275g in a large, for storms. and been happy with that and control temperature better also. is it the male menopause I'm experiencing.......or the velez? still testing.......comments ???. ...thanks

.. you will shortly be told to wash your washing machine then wash your washing machine again then wash your velez then rinse it then rinse it again then wash it in proofer again then rinse it again then rinse it again then wear it again and if it leaks you're imagining it. or something like that.

As it's pretty new I was going to suggest returning it to Paramo

What magic process do Paramo have that makes an exposed, perfectly ordinary fabric zip waterproof?

I agree....Paramo have a lifetime warranty, take to the shop it back if stiching coming out etc (I've had my Velez for 10 years by the way)

What magic process do Paramo have that makes an exposed, perfectly ordinary fabric zip waterproof? I meant more for the stitching and in case it hadn't been properly proofed at the factory. The zips are perfectly ordinary but they're backed by a stormflap of analogy fabric. I can't say I've ever felt any leakage through any of mine. Is that magic?

I think its just the windproof stuff (doubled up by construction) and not the full liner too in the storm flaps behind the zips? (certainly is on my Cioch thing.). Not such a huge surprise that that can beat off the bits of rain that do get through a normal zip. As for actual jacket: Wetting out on the outside after an hour of rain is kind of expected and should still work. Not getting on with the warmth involved is also fairly predictable - most wouldn't try to use Paramo at this time of year due to the warmth. (Deep) Winter only for some. But stitching coming apart? Get it replaced

Just inspected my Velez Adventure Light and Velez and Aspira - it certainly feels like there's a layer of pump-liner fabric between the two windproof layers, but I'm not cutting it open to check! (There's pump liner in the flap behind the leg-zips of my Cioch salopettes too, as well as two layers of windproof fabric in front)

take it back to the shop or send it back to paramo.
(shakes head. pesky lightweight fashion chasing fabrics. nothing wrong with a duffel coat)
pleased to see als has been paying attention about how do his washing...

Book yourself into a mental asylum, then join a religious retreat and repent, sinner. Paramo never fails
