 Hey all.
Off to arran at easter for2weeks standing aroun mapping rock outcrops etc. Looking at some nice warm trousers to take with me. Was thinking of ME's ultrafleece pants but want something i can climb in during the winter too.
Has anyone got any other suggestions that may be cheaper and easy to get as i leve in 2weeks.
Also whats the difference between the ultrafleece pant and ultrafleece basecamp pant. They both look the same in photos but one is £30 cheaper!

 I have a pair of the ultrafleece basecamp pants. I don't know what the difference is between the two types but can comment on my experiences. The base pants are both warm and wind resistant. I've also worn them for a day in sleet and rain (forgot my overtrousers) and they still felt comfortable and dry, in fact I didn't realise how wet the outer surface had become until I put my hand on my thigh while getting back into the car. The cut is a little loose and there are no reinforcement sections on knees etc so I don't know how suitable they would be for climbing, though the material does appear to be prety hard wearing. They also have good hand warmer pockets. I'll definately buy another pair the next time I see them in a sale.

 Ben, I know technology has moved on a lot since then but when a bunch of us went to Iceland for similar project stuff some us got fibre pile salopettes from a fishing shop - kind of thing they'd wear under chest waders if they didn't have the neoprene ones. Cheap enough to trash without getting tearful, hardwearing but with all the drawbacks and advantages of pile.
On a still day or with a mild breeze they were ace, on a windy day you needed your overtrousers. Under o/ts in winter they were wonderfully warm and stretchy
I've still got them in the loft for when I can slim down enough to get into them. Fit-for-purpose and you don't need to rob a bank.

 I use the ultra fleece pants and they are great. I have also worn them in the rain and you don't get wet. Some trousers i thought about are the Rohan Icelanders which Rohan are selling cheap on their website at the moment

 Ben I have a a pair of Ultrafleece base camp trousers by M.E for sale. They are size- Small, 30-32" elasticated waist. I have worn them once and no longer want them, due to me using my G2 pants all the time.
They are currently on E-Bay, but I would take them off for a sensible offer, drop me an e-mail if you are interested.

 Ben - check out sailing clothes. They do fleece dungarees for cold night on the North Sea to wear under oilies. As they are an undergarment-ish they shouldn't be too ex-y and having braces they won't ride up/down when climbing.
