Im looking to invest in a shiny new pair of boots and am looking for suggestions...

I need a pair that will give me quiet a bit of ankle support for long mountain days but is also good  for scrambing / basic climbs...

any thoughts welcomed

Ones that fit.

(sorry if that seems both blunt and basic...but boots are such a minefield and a personal thing, even if I was recommended a make or model, I would take any such recommendation with a huge pinch of salt).

Get yourself down a good shop - tell them what your requirments are...see what they suggest...then go to another shop and repeat exercise.  Then see what you think.

while you're there buy socks that fit properly too. brand is irrelevant. fit is supreme.

ankle support is given by the sole/heel cup supporting your foot and not by anything around your ankle. if it was you wouldn't need different categories of boots.

If you let us know where you live/work, I am sure that members here can recommend stores with good boot fitters. One such is George Fisher in Kendal.
