Designed to fit over geodesic and semi-geodesic tents such as Terra Nova's Quasar and Voyager ranges, the Multi Tarp can also be used as a stand-alone shelter. When combined with a tent it provides a very large covered area for cooking under (approx. 1.5 metres long) as well as giving shelter to the porch area to allow full-door ventilation. It's low weight (620g) and pack-size make the Multi Tarp a convenient alternative to upgrading your tent for those extended trips where porch space is at a premium.
I have an Ultra Quasar so this tarp could be useful both to provide a porch extension or as a simple standalone tarp.
IMHO you can find better wing-shaped tarps which are larger and have aprox the same weight including 1 pole.... For example this Wing from Wechsel from the Zero-G line, twice as long at least and just weighing 760 gram...:
I've just seen a picture of Das Wing and it's enormous. Covers the entire tent and still room to hold a rock concert under the porch area. I don't want to sound ungrateful but maybe a little too big?
"Das Wing" ROFL, those Germans.... It should have been written like "This Wing...". Too big? Well depends on what you fancy. If you like to sit outside your tent in mild but wet wetter side by side in front of your porch it does just fine too keep your feet and underlegs dry as well. Furthermore it's very handy to create a quick lunch place when it's wet. It is good for 3-4 persons to lunch under. And at last you could leave your tent at home and do a solo tarp-trip with. It's not really suited for 2 persons too tarp under in wet conditions. Therefor are the ends just not wide enough and you better of with a rectangle tarp.
I think a bigger wing with virtually no real extra weight pnalty gives you just more versatility.
