Depends on your budget. If you can spend slightly more then I would and get something breathable. I had a pair of B deluge and while fine for throwing on during a shower not too comfortable all day in the rain. (sweaty, sticky)

How much do you want to pay???

I hate waterproof pants and prefer not to wear them if I can help it so I bought the deluge pants 'cause I really didnt want to spend a fortune on the goretex equivalent.

I've found them OK. Not the best breathability wise. Not the most waterproof, but for chucking on in the odd shower they are fine.

i was looking for a lightweight pair and ended up with a pair of Berghaus Paclites (£64.00 Field and Trek with 20% off). The main reason is they were the lightest i could find and also had the benefit of full length 2 way zips which are really useful for ventilation (a big problem with overtrousers) and ease of getting on.

Others i looked at were

Montane Atomics £50 free PP at Achilles Heal

Marmot Essence £72 at Webtogs

Mountain Equipment Axion - couldnt find UK seller online

I also looked at RAB Off Limits and Golite Reeds but the former are now heavier than stated and the Reeds are no longer in production.

I dont think the Paclites can be beaten even though i tend to have a Berghaus aversion.

If you want heavier/more durable you could look at RAB Drilliums..

I need to upgrade my pair to a lighter weight pair as I hate wearing waterproof trousers.

I have a pair of Berghaus Deluge trousers, I carry them with me in my pack but only put them on around every 1 in 8 walks, at a complete guess. Actually I think I've only worn them once (walking) this year, and that was a very brief shower.

Mine weigh 455g in a long leg XL. I'm normally a L but XL was comfier. The full length zips are a real boon

I also wear them on my motorbike, I use them when I'm wearing my leathers in the rain. I've stayed bone dry in all day rain, for that they're great. They've taken a real beating and are still going strong. I think i'll keep these for biking and get a light pair for my just in case set

Thumbs up for the deluge though, I just don't like the weight on my legs so try not to wear them too much. I don't however want to get an ultralight affair and get them shredded on stuff

Berghaus Deluges are very good pretty robust easy to repair if need be and if you wait till Go Outdoors has them on offer you might get them for less than £20. I swear by mine for all year round use and only leave them at home in winter if expecting really crap weather and use a pair of ME Karakorums instead.

IF you can stretch that far paramo cascadas for winter.event pair for summer  is at least if not more breathable than gortex so maybe the north face ones or the montane atomics work ok for me
