After a new daysack that I can also use for overnight trips (maybe even a few nights).

Have spent quite a bit of time looking around. I have a budget of £80 which i can't really stretch any further.

The packs I've been considering are:

Lowe Alpine Airzone Centro 35+10

Deuter Futura 38

Vaude Triset 35+8

North Face Terra 35 or 45

Aside form fit (which I'll try in store) does anybody have any experience with any of these bags and can comment on durabilty and any niggles that would make you choose differently next time?  My main concerns are build quality, comfort and ease of use. Within reason weight isn't an issue, I'm more after a workhorse than a racer.

I like the simple styling of the futura and triset. The features of the Lowe Alpine seem well thought out but it is an odd shape and the I'm unsure how tough it will be long term. The Terra looks good but the back venting system doesn't look as effective as the mesh types on the others.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Mike

I'd have a look at POD and OMM too. Workhorses and racers!

For overnight trips it would depend what sort of gear you have which pack would be best. Some manage with 25l packs, but they will generally be using very light (and expensive) gear. Something in the 45l plus range might be best if you don't run to sub 1kg tents and bags.

I know a couple of folks who have been real happy with their TNF Terras, Cotswolf often have them on offer too!

i'd vote for a golite jam, love mine. have a golite ion for short day hikes but the jam has been used for day walks and overnighters, carries well and is very light

My Lowe Alpine Centro is stunningly comfy. Haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but it's a nice pack, and the adjustable back etc will help with the fit. Probably the most pleasant pack to wear that I've owned.

I have a Lowe Alpine 27 litre and 45 litre. There fine for me and not as expensive as some other makes.

I went through a similar thing at the start of the year.  I decided not to go for the TNF pack after reading some reviews.  I tried on the OMM Villain but didn't feel 100% with it.

In the end I got an Osprey Kestrel 38.  I've used it as a day sack, for overnighters and for cycling to work too - very pleased with it, plus it was on sale for £75 from Blacks at the time too!

Only thing I can suggest is to go and try all of them on with weight in them and see what feels the best.

Cheers!
