I'm new to this site so be gentle with me if I'm asking something that has already been answered elsewhere but I haven't been through ALL the forums yet.
I have an old pair of Salomon Walking Boots I bought in late 1999. I don't recall what model they are and cannot seem to find a picture of them online to identify them either. I'm not even sure if they are a ladies model or not. They cost me about £120 new at the time.
The boots were bought initially for a trek in the Sahara and they served me well for the eight day trip - particularly well considering my bag went missing at Casablance airport and so the boots were the only footwear I had for the whole trip! I survived the week with not a single blister, despite the boots being fairly new and only having one pair of proper socks with me.
The boots have gone on to serve me well in the last ten years but just recently are starting to show their age and the outer sole is beginning to part company from the boot. I haven't had wet feet yet but it's only a matter of time.
I have made enquiries about haivng the boots resoled but on closer inspection the inner is also starting to breakdown and so perhaps it is time to send them off on their last trek and get a new pair.
Boots seem to have gone even more high tech in the intervening years and so I just wondered if anyone had any hints or advice about what I should look for in a new pair of boots.
I am a weekend walker rather than an extreme enthusiast but I have been known to scramble about on mountains and go out trekking in the snow on occasion.
I love the Salomons because they are very supportive but relatively lightweight and I can wear them for days on end with no aches or pains in my feet or legs.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
