Ok everybody, I have done a decent ammount of looking around the forum

and have not come up with much that tells me what I want to know. I am

really in the need for a pair of waterproof pants. In the fall and

early winter here in central Illinois, it gets wet. I will be biking a

lot and need something waterproof. Eventually, my rides will be 20

mins plus so I will need something that will keep me pretty dry. I

will not have the ability to shower normally considering i m
going to classes and such here at ISU. I was looking at gortex, it

sounds good, maybe a little hot, and rather expensive, but waterproof.

Pertex also sounds nice accept I have a feeling I would end up a tad

damp by the time I got to class. Really, I'm looking for most

breathable and most waterproof. Any and all suggestions area welcome!

thanks a lot!!
By the way, what about this waterproof pant?
I find it in google search.

Paramo do waterproof pants that are very breathable so that your naughty bits don't sweat!  Which means you don't have to keep scratching them - get it?

Hey Julian, can't seem to see what model the Arcteryx trousers are but in general the brand won't let you down if you can justify the cost.

<pedant>

If you're finding a pair of waterproof pants for yourself, you won't be needing our help...

Now, if you meant 'find me a pair of waterproof pants'...

</pedant>

I ride in to work every day, and it rains in the UK, too...

The choices are really to get wet from rain, or get wet from sweat, if you're cycling at a decent speed.

I wear cycling clothes on my journey, and change when I get to work.

I have a pair of Gore-tex cycling overtrousers, with reinforced seat, articulated knees, and narrow, velcro-strapped ankles.  These keep the rain out, and aren't too bad for sweat.  They're quite old now, and are made by Gore Bike Wear, but it looks like they don't have anything similar any more.

I really ought to get a pair over over-bootees, too, but never seem to have got around to it.

Whilst Paramo stuff is good for the sweat side, I don't think they're suitably cut for cycling. Your view may differ.

DWR-treated Pertex will keep the rain out for a while, but the DWR is likely to fade pretty quickly.

Sorry for the pedantry, but the misuse of the reflexive 'myself' is one corruption of English that has me shouting at the TV every time I hear someone say it.

"I wash myself" - correct

"I feed myself" - correct

"I bought myself a pair of waterproof overtrousers" - correct

"Come and see myself" - wrong: "come and see me"

"Help myself find a pair of waterproof overtrousers" - wrong: "help me..."

I´m also searching for waterproof winter pants and need your help...

The Arcterix seems to be good but quite expensive.

What do you guys think about these:

I want the trousers for use in the mountains.

Thanks

Hey Simao

waterproof pants by their very nature tend to be too warm and sweaty so why don't you

try the Paramo Cascadas or the new Pajaros - then your naughty parts shouldn't get too warm!   It's a personal thing!

I cycle all year round, and often use a cycle cape, plus water resistant jeans (pants) , and leather gaiters as used for horseback riding. This combination is very non-sweaty, and very practical.
