You can probally get them cheaper at TK Maxx... Which might well give you a clue to how good Karrimor stuff is nowadays...

thats what i was worried about do you think any of the other boots on that page look descent??

I doubt any Karrimor boot is a decent boot anymore. They are certainly unlikely to be made by Karrimor, or even made to anything like an original Karrimor spec. Most of their stuff seems to be bucket-shop crap with a Karrimor label stuck on it. A sad end to a once great brand.

They have the Brasher Antuco for 50£ which is a pretty good price for a rather good product.

I know two people who had Berghaus boots and the sole split on one and the fabric discoloured, and with the second the waterproof lining failed. Very comfortable boots though.
I had Karrimor boots that lasted a long time, but the event lining failed. My wife's karrimor boots are still waterproof though and have lasted well. They both have good grips. It's a real gamble with Karrimor boots really.

Karrimor is a mixed bag, some of it is very good, some rubbish. In the case of footwear I have 2 pairs of trail running shoes that have been fine. Between the Karrimor and Berghaus mentioned I'd be tempted to go for the Karrimor ones as they don't have a waterproof liner and the do have a Vibram sole.

I saw a pair of the Glencoe Boots in my Local Sports Direct yesterday for the price they look good value being Full Grain Leather with an Event lining and Vibram sole. I think they are a recent introduction as I have not seen them in either Sports Direct/Field and Trek shops before or the website. I have a few pairs of Karrimor boots and on the whole think they are good value for money. In general terms its worth looking up any potential purchase on the Karrimor website www.karrimor.co.uk If it is featured on this site in usually means its generally available in outdoor outlets other than just Sports Direct and Field and Trek and is reasonable quality kit. Having said that some of the "own brand" Karrimor stuff, that is the items only available at Field and Trek and Sports Direct, is good valus for money. As an example I use a pair of Karrimor Anti Shock Walking Poles which are available at the moment for £15 the pair.

My Meindl Vakuums lasted a year, maybe two at best, I can almost guarantee these boots will out live them, they don't look well made though

@Mark Swan. I was interested in your comment about your Meindl Vakuums as I have a pair but was curious as to why your only post on these forums was to dig up a thread from last year. What wore out on them? I've had mine over 6 months averaging probably only 10 miles a week with some wear on the heel area of the sole.... other than that they are like new.

I got the Glencoe, 48£ and perfect to faff around the bogs and moors, they've behaved well so far.

The Glencoe boots have been upgraded to a Mark 2 version that sells for circa £65 a pair in Sports Direct/Field and Trek. This was the price that the original model was being sold for prior to being reduced to the "Sale" price of £48. In appearance and design the new version looks no different than the original version and in fact some shops are selling both versions!. Very confusing. Go Outdoors do a similar boot in its North Ridge range of "own brand" boots the price is circa £100. It looks very similar to the Karrimor boots. Full Grain leather uppers similar Vibram sole/midsole. The main differences appear to be the design of the eyelets and the tongue, the Karrimor one appears to be a plastic material, while the North Ridge looks like proper leather.
