Hi, Montane are apparently doing Montane Terras in long leg in 2011. I have not seen any and google has been no help. If anyone knows of any stockists or sees any could they let me know. Great trousers and soon I can hopefully get long leg too!

Will be watching this thread closely GB. If you find out from other sources post it up as I am always looking for long leg length in outdoors trousers. At the moment I have Rab treklites in L or XL and have to cinch in the waist rather a lot.

If thats new on their website for this Spring then it probably won't have shipped to anyone yet, so a little patience in order Cotswolds might, pretty sure they stock the terra's and they're plenty big enough. Having said that stockists of long legged options in other trousers with them have been somewhat patchy. If you're happy with the general fit etc you should at worst be able to get some ordered in from any of the likely sources. Haglofs/Rohan other good options for longer legged things.

You have to pick and choose with Rohan though. Some of their more tehnical ones like the old uplanders were not really long legged at all, but were ok if you wear boots. I only found I had a leg length problem when I stopped wearing boots. An inch or more gap between shoe and trousers is not a good look. IIRC Bags have unfinished legs so can be left longer. If anyone has a problem with leg length then some of Fjallraven's trousers have unfinished leg seams at the bottom which allows you to fine tune them for length. Not surprising really as they are Scandinavian brand. Once you used to get a lot of outdoor brand's trousers with unfinished legs. IIRC you had to iron them at the correct length and they kind of stuck there. Worked well for me.

Haglofs are OK and wonderfully long in long leg version but I do like Montane terras and like you LiL hate that awkward gap. Helps keep tiny stones, bits of heather etc out of boots too. I had it direct from Montane last year when checking my options for longest legs but have yet to see any. I shall try to be more patient!

I have heard that if you like to spend money on clothing then Fjallraven trousers have a lot of fans and I believe even their standard leg length is rather long from what I have heard. Not sure I like the price tag and they tend to do it out of polycotton which I am not keen on. Although their fans say with the greenland wax stuff you can pretty much turn them into practically waterproof trousers.

Fjallraven seem to do a fair few unfinished leg, at about 36" or so iirc. Stretchy bits on the odd thing too I think. As you said Rohan do that with bags too, although also the odd thing in extra long - 35" inside leg. Whether either do anything (with the long legs) in the same sort of fabric/feature set as the Terras, I'm rather less sure. (Montanes website now confirming the long legged terra's option, along with a bunch of other trousery bits.).

I used to use the uplanders with boots and they were well designed and the fabric wa very tough and weather resistant. Shame theey were at most 33" inner leg. Possibly shorter even in thee large size. Shame really as a tough product really worth getting.

Fjallraven are a bit heavy and thick I believe. The Terras have proved to be great summer trousers. Mal Mawr put me onto Haglofs troos some time ago and so far the longest trousers I have are Haglofs in long leg - my latest pair actually seem too long. A real novelty for me.

Hi I am Jake from Montane. I can confirm that from spring 11, we are running the Terra Pants in short, regular and long.
For example the medium size has the following inside leg: short - 29"/74cm; regular - 31"/79cm; long - 33"/84cm.
The colours in our free stock for long and short are mainly black and graphite.

LiL - Mouuntain Equipment have an excellent range of trousers, most of which come in two or three leg lengths.

Jake thanks. I assume there is no difference in waist from previous years? I am an XL in Montane and had been hoping for longer legs.

A wee update for anybody that's interested: ordered a pair of Medium/Long from Outdoor Warehouse last week. Inside Leg seam is 32" compared to 31" for a pair of standard size Large. The fit is perfect for me but might not be enough for the truly lanky trail shoe wearer. (I kick about in Mids) Haven't checked if they're the new version but there's a few differences when I compare them to my original (circa 2007) ones.
