Bearing in mind that I won't be hooking it up to a GPS, which is the best mapping software for the UK - Memory Map, Anquet or others? I'd like to be able to "print to file" so I can take files to work to print on the colour laser copier.

Spiritburner, take a look at the trackLogs stuff, here Also if you have a search through the reviews archive on the front of the site there are a couple of reviews of the various mapping software, TrackLogs, Anquet and MemoryMap, and also a feature/review of the three different types "head to head".

try oziexplorer,

with this you can scan in a map, (from anywhere in the world), download the topographical data from a NASA site and make your own 3D maps cw route planning etc!

There's me thinking emule may be a cross between email & the Pony Express! Peer to peer - is that like a route sharing version of Kazaa?

Thanks for the info guys.
