Does a tautline hitch work as well as line-loks on dynema? Does it work at all on dynema?
|
 |
should do Frum, even the 2mm stuff

Dave, would you please test it for me on the 2 mm Dynema? Also the Blake's hitch. No hurry - just some time this week.

A taughtline hitch works on the 2mm stuff from Cleats. I don't think it's the diameter that causes problems, more what the outer sheath is made of. The really thin 100% Dyneema is terrible for holding knots, i believe.

You might want to look at my laser comp mod page

Not about the LC, sorry Frum, have you tried different versions of the truckers hitch? Am only asking cause i find it easier to pull down to get tension than pull up. Am sure you can find it online if you don't know it, its basically bring the cord down round the peg & back up again, on the part running down make a loop either a slip loop or directional figure eight, but i find it best just to make 2 twists putting the bottom one through the top one. Then pass the end that's coming back up from the peg through the loop and pull down. You can tie this off either by tying 2 half hitches over the end that's coming up from the peg or over both (running down & up), & if it slips you can tie it off just below the loop you've made. If that doesn't make any sense, sorry for wasting your time

Instead of the tautline hitch, try a guyline hitch: http://www.shurdington.org/Scouts/GuylineHitch.htm
I find it much more stable than the tautline in the synthetic guylines I'm using. Also it doesn't jam.
